Where 8" sits on the EN scale
EN ISO 21420 sizes are one inch of circumference apart, so an 8-inch hand is exactly size 8: the table’s 203 mm reference with a typical length of 182 mm.
Size 8 is M on unisex lines and L on women’s lines, which are cut a letter smaller for the same hand.
8" × 25.4 = 203 mm round flat width ≈ 203 ÷ 2.42 = 84 mm (men)
Golf: the length decides Cadet
On FootJoy’s men’s chart an 8" circumference belongs to M (8–8.25"). With a typical 182 mm hand the fit is Men's M; with fingers about 8 mm shorter it becomes Cadet M, FootJoy’s rule for a finger size below the palm size.
Sport, ride and winter
Goalkeeper gloves add an inch: 8" rounds to 8 and becomes size 9 (Reusch’s half-size chart: 8). Alpinestars’ men’s chart puts 20.3 cm at M, on the edge of a band: try both. Hestra winter gloves are an 8 bare, 8 over a 1 mm liner.
For boxing, 8" falls in Rival’s 16 oz hand band (150–185 lb), but glove weight is chosen by bodyweight and use first; the hand only says how the cuff fits.
One half size down, 7.5" is EN 7 and goalie 9. One up, 8.5" is EN 8 and goalie 10.
