FootJoy sizes a golf glove with two numbers: the circumference round the first knuckle and the length of the middle finger. Its rule is short: if your finger number is lower than your palm number, try a Cadet glove in your size. A Cadet is cut with a wider palm and shorter fingers; a Regular with standard proportions. The sizer reads both numbers from your hand and applies the rule to FootJoy’s own tables.
Reading the grid
FootJoy’s men’s chart runs from S (7.75–8" round, 6.88–7.13" long) to 2XL (9.25–9.5", 8–8.25"). The sizer finds the size your circumference belongs to and the size your hand length belongs to: when the length size is lower, the Cadet in the circumference size is the fit. In FootJoy’s printed palm × finger grid, every Cadet cell sits on the short-finger side of the diagonal.
An 8.6" hand with a 7.05" length is Cadet L; the same palm with a 7.6" length is Men's L.
finger size < palm size → Cadet in the palm size finger size ≥ palm size + 2 → next Regular size
Callaway and the others
Callaway’s chart sizes by hand length alone: men’s S at 19.5 cm to XL at 21.5 cm, women’s S 17.5 to L 18.5 cm. A 20.4 cm hand is a Callaway M/L. Titleist and TaylorMade sell Cadet and Regular in S to XL as well but publish no measured chart we could retrieve, so the sizer uses FootJoy for the Cadet call.
A golf glove is worn on the lead hand: a right-handed golfer buys a left-hand glove.
Snug, not tight
A new leather glove should be snug across the palm with no loose material at the fingertips; it stretches a little in use. If the Velcro tab closes past the end of its pad, the palm is too big; if the fingertips sit short of the glove’s ends, consider the Cadet.
Brand cuts differ inside a size: when the sizer lands between two sizes, or on the edge of a band, try both.
Why the screen can be trusted
A browser does not know how big its pixels are, so the sizer starts from a table of 114 phones, tablets, laptops and monitors matched to your screen’s size and pixel ratio, an estimate good to about five percent. Laying a coin or a bank card on the glass and matching its outline replaces the estimate with a measurement good to a fraction of a percent, saved for this screen only.
Browser zoom is corrected automatically from the pixel ratio; pinch zoom is flagged, because nothing drawn is true size until it is undone.
